How to change your settings configurations (Android)

Need help determining whether your settings are correctly configured?

The Cardata app needs the device it operates in to have certain setting configurations set up in order to work.

If you need to correct a mistake that was made while setting up your configurations, you’ll find the instructions here.

Step one: Accessing the settings screen

Before you do anything, you’ll need to open the settings screen. From there you can start making changes to your setting configurations.

  1. Tap the three-line menu icon at the top corner of the screen.
  2. On the side menu, tap Settings.
  3. Tap App Settings.
  4. You’ve now entered the settings screen! If one of the settings listed has a red exclamation point, it means that the setting was not configured correctly and you'll need to make changes.

Step two: Configuring your settings

Different settings require different steps. Scroll through this article to find the setting(s) you need to reconfigure and follow the instructions.

Location always

By enabling Location Always, Cardata will be able to track your trips whenever you drive during your scheduled tracking periods.

  1. Tap the ‘Enable location always’ tab.
  2. A pop-up will appear. Tap the button reading While Using the app.
  3. You’ll get redirected to an App info screen. Once there, do the following:
    • Tap the checkbox next to “Allow all the time.”
    • Tap the toggle next to “Use precise location.”
  1. Once the items above are set to Allowed, tap the back button.

Motion tracking

Allowing Cardata to monitor motion helps the app detect vehicle motion.

  1. Tap the ‘Enable motion tracking’ tab.
  2. A pop-up will appear. Tap the Allow button. This will redirect you to a Cardata ‘App Info’ screen.
  3. Tap Permissions.
  4. Tap Physical Activity.
  5. Check the box next to ‘Allow.’
  6. Once the items above are set to Allowed, tap the back button.

Background refresh

Background refresh lets the app continue updating and gathering information even when closed.

  1. Tap the ‘Enable background refresh’ tab.
  2. You’ll get redirected to the App info screen.
  3. Tap Mobile data and wifi.
  4. Tap the toggle to the right of Background data.
  5. Tap the back button to return to Cardata Mobile.

Push notifications

By enabling push notifications, Cardata Mobile will occasionally send you important updates and reminders.

  1. The push notification settings live on a different screen than the rest of the settings. To navigate to it, tap the three-line menu icon at the top corner of your Driver Dashboard. Tap Settings.
  2. On the My Settings screen, tap the toggle next to Push Notifications to enable or disable push notifications. If the toggle is green, notifications are enabled. If grey, they’re disabled.
