AI-Specific Functionality of Otto
What can Otto do, and not do?
Otto is your AI reporting sidekick, built to help you explore your data quickly and in plain language. Here’s what Otto can do today:
Answer questions about your data:
- Summarize key metrics like total spend, compliance percentage, or mileage trends
- Understand natural language questions like “What was our highest spend region last quarter?”
Perform calculations:
- Run totals, averages, counts, and unique counts
- Calculate changes over time, like year-over-year or month-over-month growth
- Create moving averages or cumulative totals to track trends across time
Segment and filter results:
- Apply filters like date ranges, departments, or driver regions
- Group results by dimensions such as location, time period, or business unit
Explain what changed:
- Explore why a number went up or down over time, across drivers, departments, or other groups
Format and customize outputs:
- Reformat text, combine fields, and calculate time gaps or differences
- Display insights as interactive tables or charts depending on what you ask
Keep the conversation going:
- Otto remembers your question during a session—so you can ask follow-ups like
- “Now show that by region” or “Drill into just Q2”
What Otto is still learning:
Otto is growing! Right now, he's focused on giving clear, reliable answers to straightforward and moderately complex questions. He’s still learning how to:
- Handle very complex formulas that nest multiple levels of logic (like calculations inside of calculations across many groups)
If your request gets too layered, Otto might get confused, but we’re teaching him new skills every day!
Does Otto update reports in real time?
Yes, Otto generates and updates reports in real time based on the latest available data in Cardata Intelligence. When you ask Otto a question, it pulls from your current dataset to deliver the most up-to-date insights instantly.
Can I combine Otto with manual filters or sorting?
Yes. You can apply additional filters and interactions with visualizations like charts or tables. You can also switch between table and chart views.
Will Otto learn from my previous habits?
Otto doesn’t remember past conversations once the session ends, so each interaction starts fresh. However, you can refer to specific reports or dashboards by name to pick up where you left off. This makes it easy to refine or revisit past work, just be sure to give Otto enough context.
Can Otto help me create a forecast or scenario model?
No, Otto cannot currently create forecasts or scenario models. At this time, Otto is focused on helping you analyze current and historical data, surface trends, and generate configurable reports using natural language, but it does not support predictive or future-state modeling.
What’s a “query token” and why does Otto use them?
Query tokens show how Otto translated your question into data logic. You can hover over them to see what fields, filters, and formulas were applied.
Why can’t I edit a past question in Otto?
You can only edit the last question in your session. To explore a different angle, reset the chat or use “delete” to remove the last step and go a different direction.
Can I preview the data source Otto is using?
Yes. You can preview a few rows of the selected data source to check what columns or metrics are available to analyze
Can Otto change data sources mid-conversation?
Only if you’re not starting from a saved dashboard (Liveboard). Once you’re on a Liveboard, the data source is fixed until you start a new chat
