How to configure your settings (Android)

Configuring your settings is the fourth step you'll need to complete as part of your onboarding.

Getting started 

IMPORTANT: Specific terms and the general appearance of your screen may differ from what is shown in this article. Even if things look different, these instructions will still apply to you. If you’re having trouble, please get in touch with our support team.

After creating a password, you’ll get redirected to a ‘Set up your device’ screen. From here, you’ll set up your settings configurations.

Begin by tapping the Start button.

Enable location always

By enabling Location Always, Cardata will be able to track your trips whenever you drive during your scheduled tracking periods. 

Please find your operating system and follow the instructions. Please note that these steps vary from device to device.

Samsung

  1. Tap the Enable button.
  2. Tap Allow while using this app.
  3. You'll get redirected to a settings screen. Use the toggle to set Location to Allow.

Huawei

  1. Tap the Enable button.
  2. Tap Allow while using this app.
  3. You'll get redirected to a settings screen. Select Location access for this app to Allow all the time.

Google Pixel

  1. Tap the Enable button.
  2. Tap Allow while using this app.
  3. You'll get redirected to a settings screen. Tap the radio toggle next to "Allow all the time."

Enable motion tracking

Allowing Cardata to monitor motion helps the app detect vehicle motion.

  1. On the ‘Enable motion tracking screen,’ tap Enable.
  2. A pop-up will appear. Tap the Allow button. This will redirect you to a Cardata ‘App info’ screen.

  3. Tap Permissions.


  4. Tap Physical Activity.

  5. Check the box next to ‘Allow.’ 

  6. Tap the back button to return to Cardata.

Enable push notifications

By enabling push notifications, Cardata will occasionally send you important updates and reminders.

  1. On the ‘Enable push notifications’ screen, tap Enable.
  2. A pop-up will appear. Tap the Allow button.
  3. Tap Permissions.

  4. Tap Notifications.

  5. Tap the toggle next to “All Cardata notifications” to turn notifications on. When on, the toggle will be light gray instead of dark gray.

  6. Tap the back button to return to Cardata.
  7. Tap Enable again.

Enable background refresh

Background refresh lets the app continue updating and gathering information even when closed. 

  1. On the ‘Enable background refresh’ screen, tap Enable.
  2. You’ll get redirected to the App info screen.
  3. Tap Mobile data and Wi-Fi.

  4. Tap the toggle to the right of Background data. When on, the toggle will be light gray instead of dark gray.

  5. Tap the back button to return to Cardata.

Disable battery saver

Your device may stop Cardata from working if it enters power save mode. 

  1. On the ‘Disable battery saver’ screen, tap Enable.
  2. Your device settings page will open. Tap Adaptive Preferences.

  3. Tap the toggle next to Adaptive Battery to turn it off. When off, the toggle will be dark gray instead of light gray.
